LANProtector Server Licensing Details

Licensing LANProtector is performed per LANProtector Server instance (installation) only. LANProtector Manager is always free to use with any LANProtector Server instance, be it in evaluation mode or fully licensed.

In order to view license status or change a license of a LANProtector Server instance, LANProtector Manager must be used. Specifically Licensing Main Menu Server command or keyboard F12. Note that managing licensing of a LANProtector Server is only possible after connecting to that Server instance.

The above image shows how a LANProtector Server instance licensing details look like when the Server is in evaluation (trial) mode. By default, all new LANProtector Server installations will be granted 30 days of evaluation, non-restricted use. After the evaluation period is over, LANProtector Server will deactivate and can only be activated again once a valid license is uploaded.

LANProtector Server Licensing Management

To obtain a license, please visit http://www.axiomcoders.com/purchase.

It may be necessary to send computer Hardware ID information if explicitly requested by AxiomCoders team. To obtain the Hardware ID use the Server Hardware ID | Copy to Clipboard button to copy the Server Hardware ID | Hardware ID field value to clipboard and paste it where necessary.

Once purchased, licenses are distributed in a form of license files with default extension lplic (*.lplic). License file may be bound to a specific Hardware ID identifying a single computer as Hardware ID is unique and generated differently for each computer. Such license files can only be used to activate the LANProtector Server instance located on the computer with the same Hardware ID.

To upload a license file to a LANProtector Server instance (to “license a Server”), type in a path to the license file in the Upload License | License File field or use the Browse button to select a license file using a standard Windows Open file dialog. After selecting a license file, click on the Upload button and the license will be uploaded to the currently connected LANProtector Server instance. Once the Server is licensed, licensee information will appear in the Licensed To section:

Once a LANProtector Server license expires, the Server will fall back to evaluation mode if any trial days remain. Otherwise the Server will deactivate and until a new valid license is uploaded, it won’t be possible to activate it again. The LANProtector Server Licensing dialog will show in the Licensed To box that the license has expired:

Note: it is always possible to upload another license over already existing one if the license file is valid. If the license file is not valid or the Hardware ID in the license file doesn’t match the Hardware ID of the LANProtector Server computer, nothing will be changed in the License Information and Licensed To information boxes.
