LANProtector What's Planned Next

What’s Planned Next?

Here are the features planned for the upcoming AxiomCoders LANProtector versions. The features may not be implemented in the order presented here. List of features is compiled by AxiomCoders LANProtector development team and LANProtector user community.

We are prioritizing features which are requested the most by LANProtector user community and accepting any new interesting suggestions. Feel free to let us know what would you like implemented in the next LANProtector version by posting on LANProtector Feature Suggestions forum or by sending us mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 1.      Active network peer blocking

Actively deny access to the network for a specified computer or a device. If there is an intruder already present in the protected network, using LANProtector Manager it will be possible to instantly give instructions to the LANProtector Server to block ALL communication coming from and going to a specific computer or a device. This legit denial of service will be performed for a specified and limited time period only with a goal of forcing intruder to change the obtained IP address and by doing so be blocked from further accessing the network using regular protection Rules.

2.      Active network scan

For the impatient users of passive Network Activity Scan, Active Network Scan will use ARP pinging to detect computers and devices already present on the network. Although not a completely silent scan as current passive Network Activity Scan, it will still be highly anonymous without revealing the network scan source as much as possible. Active Network Scan will quickly list all present computers and devices on the network allowing for an easier protection Rules creation.

3.      PDF Reports

Using our own technology – AxiomCoders PDF Reports – LANProtector Manager will be able to provide professional reports of all discovered computers and devices on a network. The list will be provided by the Network Activity Scan.
More reports are planned for easier overview of the Server Log and all Security Project’s Rulesets and Rules.
Loading of previously saved XML reports will also be supported for later on exporting to PDF.

4.      Project Wizard

A big usability improvement allowing for easier creation and editing of LANProtector Security Projects. Using the Project Wizard, LANProtector Manager will be able to quickly and automatically build a Security Project based on gathered Network Activity Scan information. Also the Project Wizard will provide a step-by-step user interface for creating new or editing existing Projects.

5.      Rule editing improvements

General LANProtector Manager Rule manipulation improvements, including but not limited to:

  •           Copy and paste single or multiple Rules between Rulesets
  •           Using a mouse perform drag and drop on single or multiple Rules from one Ruleset to another and to move Rules in the list
  •           Move/Copy to a Ruleset context menu command to allow easier moving or copying of Rules to another Ruleset

6.      Quick search

Quick search method for all grids in the LANProtector Manager will be implemented. This will cover Rules, Network Activity Scan and Server Log among others. Quick search will allow type-n-find functionality with jump-to-next-match.
